Job Description
Sinhala linguist translating and refining English content for Lilt’s multilingual AI technology. Evaluating language models and localizing digital tools for Sinhala-speaking markets.
Responsibilities:
- Translate content between English and Sinhala while preserving cultural nuance and clarity
- Edit and refine language content for accuracy, tone, and contextual relevance across digital platforms
- Apply current language standards, usage trends, and best practices
- Evaluate and provide structured feedback to improve language model quality
- Collaborate with Production and cross-functional teams to localize content for Sinhala-speaking markets
- Support content development, localization, and quality assurance for digital tools and applications
- Creatively adapt text beyond the source when transcreation is required
- Complete onboarding steps, including an application form and payment setup after selection
Requirements:
- Native-level proficiency in Sinhala and English/native language translation
- A graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR
- A graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR
- 5 years of full-time professional translation experience
- Ability to follow terminology and reference materials precisely
- Reliable availability and commitment
- Most tasks require a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week
- Updated CV/resume in English
- Must pass a domain-specific test if required
- Contractors are responsible for their own tax obligations
- Geographic restrictions may apply due to international embargoes or sanctions
