Job Description

Coalition-building manager coordinating philanthropic partnerships, workstreams and convenings at CDP, a strategic disaster-philanthropy organization. Advancing equitable disaster recovery through stakeholder engagement and collective action.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate CDP’s coalition-building strategy and priorities into actionable workplans, milestones and deliverables
  • Manage assigned coalition initiatives and workstreams from planning through implementation
  • Monitor progress and adjust approaches as needed
  • Manage project plans, timelines, meetings, documentation and follow-up
  • Track deliverables, stakeholder commitments, budgets, risks, decisions and milestones
  • Identify implementation challenges and recommend or implement solutions
  • Manage partner relationships and coordinate onboarding and engagement of coalition participants
  • Hold contributors accountable for commitments and escalate significant risks or barriers
  • Support engagement with funders, humanitarian organizations, grassroots networks and other stakeholders
  • Plan and facilitate coalition meetings, workshops and convenings
  • Synthesize discussions, learning and stakeholder input into summaries, recommendations, talking points and knowledge-sharing materials
  • Navigate differing stakeholder perspectives and identify opportunities for alignment and collective action
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration within CDP
  • Assist with fundraising materials, grant proposals and reporting
  • Represent CDP at select convenings and peer network events
  • Track fundraising commitments, coalition budgets and resource needs
  • Document coalition value, outcomes and stories for communications
  • Collaborate with fund management, marketing and communications, development, and strategy and innovations teams
  • Improve internal processes, tools and systems for coalition building
  • Share lessons and contribute to effective coalition-building practices
  • Report to the director of coalition building and support organization-wide priorities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in stakeholder engagement, project management, philanthropy, community engagement, disaster and humanitarian response or related fields
  • Experience independently managing complex projects or workstreams involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, solve problems and make recommendations in complex or ambiguous situations
  • Strong project management skills, including managing timelines, deliverables and coordination across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation or meeting management experience
  • Ability to synthesize information, identify patterns and translate insights into clear recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguity effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and ability to learn and use project management, collaboration and relationship-management technologies
  • Preferred: experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, humanitarian or disaster recovery sectors
  • Preferred: experience supporting collaborative funds, coalitions, alliances or cross-organizational initiatives
  • Preferred: familiarity with fundraising or resource mobilization
  • Preferred: experience using relationship management tools or CRM systems
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. now and in the future
  • Must be based in Mountain, Central, or Eastern US time zones
  • Ability to provide documentation of extended legal eligibility to work in the United States
