Job Description
Managing nationwide lab operations, vendors, compliance, and training for Oak Street Health’s older-adult primary care centers. Improving testing quality across 200+ centers.
Responsibilities:
- Support organization-wide lab standards meeting regulatory requirements
- Drive excellence in lab collection, processing, safety, and optimization
- Develop standard operating procedures for lab-related compliance
- Ensure CMS CLIA-waived compliance for point-of-care testing across the enterprise
- Develop lab training structures for new and current Oakies
- Build mechanisms for lab quality assurance
- Manage national and regional lab vendors
- Maintain the test compendium
- Oversee center lab operations across 200+ Oak Street Health centers
- Serve as business and strategic liaison for lab vendor relationships
- Optimize lab vendor service agreements
- Develop organizational lab standards aligned with federal and state regulations
- Negotiate vendor pricing and service level agreements
- Manage lab compendiums with EMR and product teams
- Track and trend lab performance metrics, including test volume, turnaround time, TNP, and TIQ
- Monitor adherence to lab-related monitoring structures
- Lead integration of new point-of-care devices and lab specimens
- Analyze lab performance and develop plans to improve processing
- Guide Practice Managers and center staff on lab resources and equipment
- Track CLIA-waived compliance requirements, certificates, control logs, and documentation
- Partner on lab-related center setup and state CLIA integration
- Support lab incident reports and root cause analyses
- Complete onsite center visits
- Build organization-wide lab training
- Drive cross-functional partnerships
- Enable strong accountable metric performance for lab operations
- Travel to Oak Street Health markets up to 10% of the time
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 5-8 years experience
- At least 3 years of direct experience in a clinical laboratory
- MLS, MT, or MLT certification preferred
- Epic certification or experience preferred
- Experience independently managing and leading complex, organization-wide projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize and navigate multiple competing priorities
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills
- Exceptional communication skills
- Vendor management experience preferred
- Flexible and positive attitude
- Strong desire to change the traditional primary care paradigm
- High emotional intelligence
- Ability to evaluate situations from multiple perspectives
- Ability to resolve problems
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
