Job Description
Engineering Manager guiding a senior team of developers at Wealthsimple, Canada's largest fintech. Collaborating to ship reliable code and improve client experience.
Responsibilities:
- Guide and support a team of developers through coaching, career development, and regular feedback conversations
- Partner with product teams to identify reliability challenges and create targeted solutions that improve the client experience
- Build strong relationships with team members across engineering to understand their needs and advocate for tooling improvements
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape project proposals and bring them to relevant planning discussions
- Lead migrations, unblock dependencies, and keep momentum
- Promote best practices for production engineering and help establish patterns that scale across the organization
- Coordinate the team's rotation program, ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding as developers move between Platform and Product
Requirements:
- Experience in development and managing software engineering teams
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage meaningfully in discussions about system reliability, performance, and architecture
- Experience partnering with multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives
- Excellent communication skills for sharing updates, building alignment, and creating documentation
- A collaborative approach that builds trust and empathy between different parts of the organization
- Nice to haves: Experience with platform or infrastructure engineering teams, background in reliability engineering, SRE, or production operations, familiarity with observability tools and incident management processes
