Job Description
Market Curation Editor reviewing and refining sports prediction markets for Meridial's beta social-predictions app. Applying league rules, verifying sources, and resolving live-event settlement issues.
Responsibilities:
- Review a daily queue of system-generated sports markets against a fixed completion deadline
- Assess candidate markets for factual accuracy, clarity, and adjudicability against authoritative sources and defined settlement dates
- Verify event opening and closing times, including scheduled and unscheduled delays
- Apply league-specific settlement conventions covering overtime, shootouts, postponements, abandonments, minimum-play thresholds, and statistical corrections
- Confirm compliance with community standards and content guidelines, escalating ambiguous or sensitive cases
- Approve, edit, or reject candidates and record a structured reason for every decision
- Rewrite questions and resolution language for precision and natural sports-fan terminology
- Author timestamped clarifications for live-market ambiguity and resolve settlement exceptions
- Monitor live markets for errors and track schedules, team news, and social platforms for missed events
- Participate in weekly calibration reviews with fellow curators
Requirements:
- 3+ years in sports trading, sports data operations, sports journalism or editorial, or a comparable role requiring current subject-matter expertise
- Demonstrable current fluency in sport across professional and collegiate leagues in major sports
- Fluency with sports culture and sports social media, including trades, free agency, and breaking news accounts
- Working knowledge of official rule and settlement conventions for major leagues
- Knowledge of authoritative sources for official results and statistics
- Proven judgment on suspended and abandoned events, statistical corrections, contested outcomes, and ambiguous official rulings
- Ability to interpret official sources quickly and reach a defensible determination
- Exceptional written precision under deadline
- Ability to write unambiguous rules that hold up after the outcome is known
- Comfort applying a written policy framework, with the instinct to escalate rather than guess
- Flexible availability for evening, overnight, and weekend work as needed around live events
