Job Description

Payroll Manager overseeing multi-state payroll using Paylocity and Unanet. Ensuring compliance, audits, reporting, and accurate payroll operations for B&A’s government and private-sector clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multi-state employees
  • Administer payroll operations using Paylocity and Unanet
  • Process salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, commissions, and special payments accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and ensure timely reporting and payments
  • Manage payroll audits and support internal and external audit requests
  • Partner with HR on employee onboarding, offboarding, compensation changes, and benefits administration
  • Maintain payroll records and data integrity across payroll and timekeeping systems
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff, including training and performance guidance
  • Generate and analyze payroll metrics, reports, and financial data for leadership
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll reconciliations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll leadership or management responsibilities
  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity payroll administration
  • Experience utilizing Unanet for labor, project, timekeeping, and payroll-related functions
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reporting and data analysis
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service abilities
  • Knowledge of labor distribution, project accounting, and indirect cost structures
  • Experience integrating payroll, HRIS, accounting, and timekeeping systems
  • Familiarity with audits, DCAA compliance, and government contracting environments
