Job Description
Payroll Manager overseeing multi-state payroll using Paylocity and Unanet. Ensuring compliance, audits, reporting, and accurate payroll operations for B&A’s government and private-sector clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multi-state employees
- Administer payroll operations using Paylocity and Unanet
- Process salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, commissions, and special payments accurately and on schedule
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Review and reconcile payroll reports, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings
- Coordinate payroll tax filings and ensure timely reporting and payments
- Manage payroll audits and support internal and external audit requests
- Partner with HR on employee onboarding, offboarding, compensation changes, and benefits administration
- Maintain payroll records and data integrity across payroll and timekeeping systems
- Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, including training and performance guidance
- Generate and analyze payroll metrics, reports, and financial data for leadership
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll reconciliations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll leadership or management responsibilities
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity payroll administration
- Experience utilizing Unanet for labor, project, timekeeping, and payroll-related functions
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Experience processing multi-state payroll
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reporting and data analysis
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service abilities
- Knowledge of labor distribution, project accounting, and indirect cost structures
- Experience integrating payroll, HRIS, accounting, and timekeeping systems
- Familiarity with audits, DCAA compliance, and government contracting environments
