Job Description
People Operations Lead at Mint Source responsible for managing retention, performance, and people operations. Building relationships and overseeing operations within a remote-first agency environment.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end people operations for embedded and retained hires, from onboarding through ongoing performance and retention
- Lead, manage, and grow the people operations team, setting standards and ensuring consistent execution across all people workflows
- Act as the primary owner of people-related client communication, including check-ins, performance discussions, and escalations
- Build strong relationships with embedded talent through regular check-ins, feedback conversations, and proactive support
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring talent clearly understands Mint Source's role, expectations, and policies
- Oversee payroll coordination and pay-related issue resolution in partnership with back-office support, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication with talent
- Own performance management, including setting expectations, delivering feedback, and placing talent on performance improvement plans when required
- Confidently handle difficult conversations with talent and clients, addressing issues early and fairly
- Design and drive employee engagement and culture initiatives that reinforce accountability, ownership, and performance standards across the company
- Create, document, and enforce SOPs across people operations, including onboarding, offboarding, policy enforcement, and client touchpoints
- Partner closely with founders and recruitment leadership to ensure smooth handovers from hiring into retention
- Track people health metrics, identify risks early, and implement clear action plans to prevent churn
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in people operations, HR, client success, or operations within a recruitment or agency environment
- Relationship-driven and energized by people interaction, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
- Proven ability to lead difficult conversations around performance, expectations, and accountability
- Experience managing employee engagement, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans
- Previous experience managing a small team in a remote or distributed environment, or readiness to scale and lead one
- Strong client-facing communication skills with confidence owning people-related relationships
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, balancing people needs, client expectations, and business priorities
- Comfortable using BambooHR, Payoneer WFM, Slack, and ClickUp
- Emotional resilience and composure in high-pressure or sensitive situations
- A bias toward action and follow-through in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Experience building SOPs and operational processes from the ground up
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in an environment that is still being built
