Job Description
Project Manager providing leadership and coordination for healthcare technology modernization projects. Ensuring successful deployment of medical technologies at VA medical centers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coordination for projects related to medical equipment management
- Oversee planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects supporting VA Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) initiatives
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with established project management practices and VA requirements
- Manage project documentation, facilitating meetings and communications
- Monitor performance metrics and support coordination of project stakeholders
- Plan, manage, and control projects related to biomedical engineering support services
- Develop and maintain project management documentation (charters, plans, schedules, risk registers)
- Coordinate with VA Biomedical Engineering departments, clinicians, IT personnel, vendors, and facility leadership
- Monitor project performance against established milestones and objectives
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues
- Facilitate project meetings and communications among stakeholders
- Track project activities, deliverables, and resource requirements
- Prepare and deliver status reports detailing project progress and resource requirements
- Ensure project activities align with VA policies and regulatory requirements
- Support coordination of technology implementation activities
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Certification in project management (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP))
- A minimum of two years of hospital or healthcare experience planning, managing, and controlling projects
- Demonstrated competency in planning, managing, and controlling projects throughout their lifecycle
- Writing or reviewing project management documentation (including project charters, project management plan, BRM)
- Problem solving
- Risk mitigation and management
- Demonstrated mastery and skill in applying project management principles (PMI's PMBOK)
- Skill in communicating and working collaboratively with key stakeholders
- Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements and industry regulatory requirements
- (OPTIONAL) Proven ability to lead complex projects (e.g., integrating biomedical devices with EHR and PACS using HL7 and DICOM protocols)
