Job Description

Regional Deployment Manager installing and troubleshooting IT infrastructure at U.S. border locations for SAIC’s DHS program. Managing contractors, deployments, security compliance, and field break-fix support.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and manage equipment at Land Ports of Entry, airports, and Border Patrol locations.
  • Manage electrical contractors supporting inside/outside plant site modifications.
  • Track and document work progression.
  • Perform troubleshooting through resolution.
  • Identify installation problems and risks and create resolutions for difficult problems.
  • Maintain a high degree of technical understanding of deployed solutions.
  • Adhere to IT security, physical security, and operations security policies.
  • Work in an all-weather field environment without on-site supervision.
  • Provide surge support for non-deployment break-fix work across six local San Diego Ports of Entry.
  • Build relationships and trust with Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents.
  • Travel at least 75% of the time to the Northern or Southern U.S. borders.
  • Travel to U.S. Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the San Diego region, with daily coverage up to 150 miles from home base.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience as a Deployment Manager or similar role; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a CBP Public Trust clearance; DHS Public Trust must be obtained prior to starting.
  • Must be currently residing in the San Diego area.
  • CBP Background Investigation requires drug screen prior to starting.
  • Understanding of basic construction techniques involving inside/outside plant cabling and ability to read construction documents.
  • Solid understanding of basic Project Management principles.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Accustomed to using mobile tools and applications.
  • Understanding of basic electrical wiring principles, low voltage only.
  • Technical proficiency with CAT 6 and coaxial signal cabling, including testing and termination.
  • Technical proficiency with single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling, including testing, termination, and splicing.
  • Experience with LED video displays and digital billboards.
  • Management experience with subcontractors.
  • Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting strongly desired.
  • Active DHS Public Trust highly desired.
  • Reliable transportation with insurance.
