Job Description

Seasonal tax accountant preparing individual, business, and fiduciary returns for an Illinois CPA firm. Remote U.S. work with flexible scheduling during the 2027 tax season.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns (Form 1040)
  • Prepare business and fiduciary income tax returns, including S Corporations (Form 1120-S), Partnerships (Form 1065), and Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
  • Research federal and state tax issues and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Assist with client tax planning and consulting
  • Prepare income tax basis financial statements as needed
  • Communicate professionally with clients and team members
  • Work independently while collaborating with a remote team
  • Use Lacerte, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office, ShareFile, and OfficeTools

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of public accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong experience preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040)
  • Experience preparing business income tax returns
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred
  • Experience with Lacerte Tax Software preferred
  • Experience preparing Forms 1120-S, 1065, and 1041 preferred
  • Experience with multi-state tax returns preferred
  • Tax research and planning experience preferred
