Job Description
General Ledger Senior Accountant supporting accounting for ACCEL Schools’ network of public charter schools. Managing reconciliations, monthly close, financial analysis, and ledger accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Support all general ledger tasks including monthly close and journal entries for multiple legal entities
- Perform monthly reconciliations for multiple legal entities of sub ledgers/calculated schedules against general ledger and assess ending balances for reasonableness
- Lead revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations and analysis
- Perform variance analyses for financial statements and explain fluctuations month to month, year over year, and against plan
- Ensure accuracy of ledger entries and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
- Identify efficiencies in existing processes and propose solutions
- Support various accounting projects
- Oversee reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with training junior staff
- Analyze and validate financial statements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of and proficiency in an ERP system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to communicate with all levels
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships with all levels
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform highly detailed work under tight deadlines and handle competing priorities
- Demonstrated history of problem solving
- Superb ability to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and system issues
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
