Job Description
Senior AdTech Engineer building low-latency programmatic advertising systems and AI media-buying agents. Smart Working connects skilled professionals with global teams through full-time remote roles.
Responsibilities:
- Build and scale backend components and infrastructure for a programmatic advertising platform
- Develop low-latency, high-throughput services processing ad requests in milliseconds
- Build proprietary AI agents for buying and distributing media
- Collaborate with a data scientist on content tagging, enrichment of ad requests, and models
- Integrate with third-party AdTech platforms and APIs, including OpenRTB, DSPs, and SSPs
- Oversee work, run code and peer reviews, and guide other engineers
- Independently own a critical area while guiding the wider engineering team
- Apply architectural judgment in a real-time bidding environment
- Help shape agentic processes within the platform
- Work with GitOps deployments and a code-review culture
- Design and deliver services or components end to end
- Mentor engineers and set technical standards without required line management
- Improve a live, performance-critical platform without breaking existing functionality
Requirements:
- 5+ years of advanced Node.js back-end engineering experience
- 3+ years of advanced experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems with millisecond response times and high request volumes
- 1+ year of proficient, hands-on production experience building agentic AI, including LLM agents and collaboration with a data scientist
- 5+ years of advanced experience building APIs and third-party integrations
- 2+ years conducting code reviews and peer reviews and guiding engineers, or equivalent senior individual-contributor mentoring and review-standards experience
- 3+ years of advanced TypeScript experience; strong modern JavaScript may substitute
- 2+ years of React experience
- 2+ years of Google Cloud Platform experience; AWS or Azure may substitute
- 2+ years of Kubernetes and Argo CD experience for GitOps deployments; Kubernetes with Flux or Helm may substitute
- Senior Engineer/Architect-level capability with technical leadership experience and ability to work alongside the CTO
