Job Description
Manufacturing Development Engineer advancing NVIDIA hardware assembly readiness, DFA, fixtures, and automation. Partnering with CEMs from NPI through mass production.
Responsibilities:
- Develop manufacturing DFA maturity and perform detailed DFA analysis to achieve system assembly process solutions
- Drive NPI CEM readiness, including DFX, process qualifications, and manufacturing specifications
- Develop mechanical assembly processes, fixtures, and automation with CEM partners
- Lead assembly fixture and jig development, process evaluation and validation, CEM assembly-readiness reviews, and manufacturing schedules
- Ensure CEM technical performance for system assembly meets NVIDIA specifications and technology requirements
- Evaluate tolerance capability to achieve assembly gap and step specifications
- Handle NPI manufacturing assembly issues, investigate product failures, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions
- Recommend technology aids, product design changes, and workspace layout modifications to optimize quality and efficiency
- Analyze system assembly automation, conduct time-and-motion studies, reduce cycle time and assembly waste, and propose cost optimizations
- Develop and coordinate schedules and performance requirements, lead project management activities, and establish processes to keep projects on schedule and budget
- Engage CEM early to develop manufacturing maturity alongside product design from conception through NPI and mass production
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical, manufacturing or related field, or equivalent; master’s degree in engineering is preferred
- 5+ years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment in consumer electronics, GPU, automotive, or server-related industries
- Practical experience in mechanical design and assembly
- Practical knowledge of system assembly, system testing, and tolerance capability
- Strong familiarity with CAD tools such as Creo
- Solid interpersonal skills, attention to detail, multitasking, negotiation, presentation, technical and quality sensitivity, problem-solving, collaboration, and analytical ability
- Experience in functional tolerance and/or geometric dimensioning and tolerance for sophisticated assemblies
- Solid understanding of basic electrical circuits
- Familiarity with all aspects of the NPI process
- Good understanding of commonly used testing and inspection methods and instruments
