Job Description
Sr. Configuration Analyst supporting SAIC’s VA application modernization and cloud migration. Automating configuration management, CI/CD, release engineering, and repeatable deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software configuration management tools supporting configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of internally developed and COTS software
- Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks
- Document new software product operating parameters and ensure compliance with standard hardware configurations and logistical sustainability
- Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages
- Design and implement build procedures supporting software product development and use
- Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use as needed
- Train software developers in configuration management tools and software quality standards as needed
- Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems
- Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in configuration management best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience; an additional eight (8) years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline is required
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex software builds and releases across multiple environments
- Experience working within large, regulated enterprises or federal environments is beneficial
- Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering; broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps
- Ability to provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems, operate autonomously, and make sound decisions
- Expertise in configuration management practices, including identification, baselining, change control, and status accounting
- Experience with source control systems including Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, and Subversion, plus branching/merging strategies
- Experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and GitHub Actions, and artifact repositories including Nexus and Artifactory
- Scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, and Python
- Experience managing COTS software, vendor patches, and version control
- Experience with infrastructure as code and environment management using Ansible and Terraform
- Knowledge of software quality standards, governance frameworks, and training developers on CM tools and quality practices
- Proficiency with work management tools including JIRA, Azure Boards, and Trello, and documentation tools including Confluence, Visio, and Lucidchart
- Understanding of database concepts, dependency management, and build reproducibility
- Strong analytical skills for investigating build failures, dependency conflicts, and deployment issues
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate, mentor, lead, and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends and emerging DevOps technologies
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
