Job Description
Senior DNS Engineer building scalable control-plane software for DigitalOcean’s cloud platform. Developing APIs, improving DNS products, and operating high-performance networking systems.
Responsibilities:
- Write control plane software for the DNS Products team
- Develop APIs and troubleshoot and improve the customer experience
- Help the team own product offerings end-to-end
- Implement, test, and optimize new services and tools that run at scale and solve performance and monitoring problems
- Collaborate with Networking teams to build next-generation products and services for the developer community
- Support existing products and contribute creative solutions to pain points
- Improve tooling and processes to ship robust, mission-critical ecosystem components
- Establish development and architecture best practices
- Use technologies including Go, Consul, Kafka, SQL, Chef, Git, Jira, gRPC, Prometheus, Grafana, Lightstep, Docker, DNS, and Kubernetes
Requirements:
- Experience designing and developing full-stack applications with databases and API
- Experience leading work across multiple teams to build API contracts
- Experience deploying and operating Linux (Ubuntu) based virtual and bare metal hosts
- Experience with Go programming language and unit tests
- Some experience designing and developing high performance systems
- Some domain knowledge of DNS and Networking stack or a strong willingness to learn
- Experience with cloud development, containerization and virtualization
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD)
- B.S/M.S in Computer Science or relevant and equivalent experience
- Bonus: Experience using gRPC to build robust distributed and high-demand systems
- Bonus: Working knowledge of Temporal and Kafka
