Job Description
Senior PHP/Symfony Engineer scaling integrations and automation for a commercial kitchen equipment supplier. Building reliable ERP, ecommerce, CRM and sales-tool synchronization systems.
Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture of the internal business automation platform, keeping it maintainable, monitorable and scalable.
- Design and maintain data models for customers, orders, leads, accounts and products.
- Build and run daily synchronization chains between ERP, ecommerce stores and sales tools.
- Integrate ecommerce platforms through GraphQL APIs, bulk operations and webhooks, and other systems through REST and SOAP.
- Maintain reliability despite rate-limited APIs and missing records while protecting write-back data quality.
- Build browser automation with headless browsers in Node.js and web scraping behind proxies.
- Enrich and categorize product data using AI models while controlling cost and accuracy.
- Run Symfony Messenger queues, cron jobs and background workers and handle failed messages.
- Maintain production health with alerts, digests and runbooks while reducing alert noise.
- Build React front-end screens for internal users and automate sales engagement and SEO tasks.
- Increase unit and end-to-end test coverage and maintain CI execution.
- Work alongside an existing developer to improve architecture, monitoring, error handling and production reliability.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience building and running integrations and automations with third-party APIs at scale.
- Proven product architecture skills: designing and running maintainable, monitorable, scalable applications.
- Strong data modelling skills and deep experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Doctrine ORM.
- Expert knowledge of PHP 8 and Symfony on the back end.
- Strong knowledge of caching systems such as Redis.
- Hands-on experience with Symfony Messenger or other message queues, and asynchronous and background processing.
- Experience with REST, GraphQL and SOAP APIs.
- Experience with web crawling and headless browser automation using Node.js.
- Strong experience with a modern JavaScript front end, ideally React.
- Automated testing experience with PHPUnit, Playwright and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, fast learning and ownership of results.
