Job Description

Sr. Site Manager overseeing Vanderlande’s parcel-material-handling construction projects. Managing subcontractors, schedules, commissioning, budgets, safety, and site execution with 80–90% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of subcontracted installation staff during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of project-related systems
  • Serve as the main point of contact for construction-related activities
  • Assist the Project Manager with installation budget, site process adherence, site management, and installation/site compliance
  • Manage project site technical, contractual, budget, and schedule activities
  • Plan project development and pre-construction activities, including scheduling, estimating, and staffing
  • Coordinate issued-for-construction drawings, specification reviews, and approvals
  • Complete constructability reviews throughout the design process
  • Lead construction coordination and documentation, including pre-construction conferences and progress meetings
  • Develop scopes of work and confirm scopes and bids with subcontractors and vendors
  • Develop and approve subcontractor and vendor schedules
  • Develop site execution plans
  • Manage and schedule commissioning
  • Coordinate the construction RFI process
  • Support installation, conversion, or demolition project scope, schedule, and budget creation
  • Foster and manage HSE/EHS compliance with project and OSHA safety requirements
  • Review RFPs, pre-construction activities, scopes, and trade partner alignment
  • Supervise and validate mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and related construction progress against the baseline schedule
  • Create, validate, and mitigate subcontractor/vendor change orders
  • Establish, execute, and close project deliverables
  • Lead the construction project team through mobilization, execution, and demobilization
  • Chair daily and weekly meetings and support pull-planning sessions
  • Solve problems while coordinating with stakeholders
  • Coordinate as-built drawings with field and engineering teams
  • Interface between engineering and construction operations to resolve technical issues
  • Lead quality-control efforts throughout the project
  • Manage self-perform mechanical, electrical, and steel erection installations
  • Prepare all project reporting documents

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of Construction Management experience required in the Parcel material handling sector
  • UPS, Fedex, and DHL experience preferred
  • Oversight experience of mechanical and electrical subcontractor activities in an operational industrial facility performing renovations and build outs on existing structures
  • OSHA 30-hour safety card
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, Auto CAD, NAVIS Works, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering schematics and design prints
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and steel installation drawings
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in presentation and communication to customer, contractor, and management audience
  • Proven working knowledge of construction scheduling
  • Ability to lead/run meetings
  • Proven business development experience
  • Proficiency in planning, assessing, and modifying resource requirements, including work resource schedules and material delivery
  • Proficiency in specification development and subcontract agreements
  • Excellent delegation and time management skills
  • Diplomatic with team onsite, PM, and customer
  • Identifies and manages stress well
  • Willingness and ability to travel 80–90%
  • Ability to talk and hear, lift materials up to 50 pounds on occasion, and bend at the knees to inspect pallets or read packing lists
