Job Description
Senior Trial Attorney defending Allstate insureds in Massachusetts bodily injury, property damage, and PIP litigation. Managing complex cases, trials, mediations, and strategic claims counsel remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Represent insured individuals and Allstate in defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation litigation, PIP/no-fault matters, and uninsured/underinsured motorist cases
- Independently manage litigation from case inception through resolution
- Evaluate cases, review documentary evidence, develop litigation strategy, and direct discovery
- Prepare for and conduct hearings, depositions, examinations under oath, arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
- Draft and argue substantive motions, complex pleadings, trial documents, and motions in limine
- Prepare witnesses, clients, and expert witnesses for testimony
- Investigate and pursue subrogation opportunities and recovery efforts
- Provide legal counsel and strategic litigation guidance to claims business partners and internal clients
- Communicate case developments, litigation strategy, exposure assessments, settlement recommendations, and trial preparation
- Monitor laws, regulations, and case law; identify trends and advise business partners
- Travel to courts and other venues throughout Massachusetts as needed
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate
- Active membership in good standing with the Massachusetts State Bar
- 4+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense, bodily injury, personal injury, PIP/no-fault litigation, subrogation, or related civil litigation
- First or second chair jury trial experience preferred
- Experience conducting depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and settlement negotiations
- Ability to independently manage an active litigation caseload through resolution
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, legal research platforms, and internet-based legal research tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants
- Ability to work effectively in a remote/hybrid environment and travel throughout Massachusetts
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
