Job Description

Vanderlande Site Manager leading complex material-handling equipment installations. Managing site teams, contracts, risks, quality, costs, and customer relationships across highly mobile projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage on-site installation teams on complex projects
  • Own site-related challenges and P&L responsibility for site-based activities and associated costs
  • Manage site-based contracts, project risks, contract issues, and claims
  • Monitor on-site activities for 50% of each scheduled workday, including at least three full site walks daily
  • Identify and analyze problems, risks, and opportunities and initiate corrective and preventive actions
  • Manage quality, schedule, time, costs, information, and nonconformities
  • Negotiate with customers and subcontractors and manage stakeholders, including senior management
  • Communicate with customers about progress, out-of-scope work, payments, and site-related issues
  • Manage high-quality installation execution according to corporate processes
  • Perform installation quality checks
  • Organize and oversee all HSE activities on site
  • Produce the Installation Project Plan covering objectives, organization, planning, and cost calculations in consultation with the Project Manager
  • Initiate improvements to the site management process
  • Report timely to customers, the Project Manager, and head office

Requirements:

  • Relevant Project Management experience managing engineering projects, or a craft-based background
  • Track record in project delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities in creating unified and motivated project teams
  • Exceptional organizational skills and effective teamwork with engineering and project management
  • Proactive, hands-on work ethic and problem-solving ability, especially in intense situations
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical controls wiring and systems
  • Experience with contract management, project planning, and site organization
  • Ability to travel up to 80–90% domestically or internationally
  • Ability to talk and hear regularly
  • Ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to bend at the knees to inspect pallets or read packing lists
