Job Description

Software Engineer II developing robust systems to enhance customer experiences at MGM Resorts International. Collaborating with teams to design, develop and deliver high-impact technology solutions for exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain production-grade code across the full software development lifecycle—from vision and requirements definition through planning, execution, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Partner closely with Product Management to deliver intuitive, high-quality solutions that enhance the overall customer experience
  • Collaborate with technology leadership to evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and practices that improve platform performance and scalability
  • Ensure consistency, reliability, supportability, and observability across services to maintain a stable and high-performing ecosystem
  • Communicate effectively across teams and organizational levels to align stakeholders, solve complex challenges, and drive progress
  • Analyze product tradeoffs and build simple, elegant solutions while fostering strong cross-functional relationships and upholding MGM Resorts International’s mission and values

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 3+ years of experience delivering commercial cloud and backend software products at enterprise or internet scale (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working in production environments with languages such as Java, C++, or similar technologies is preferred
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, enterprise platforms, and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience in DevOps cultures and distributed teams is preferred
  • Strong understanding of software architecture across all layers, including UI, services, data storage, and communication frameworks
  • Solid foundation in software engineering best practices and computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and full SDLC processes (coding standards, testing, deployment, and operations)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or equivalent platforms)
