Job Description
Technical Operations Manager optimizing distributed solar and energy storage assets for Omnidian, a tech-enabled clean-energy service company. Managing client relationships, field coordination, BESS operations, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients across a portfolio of approximately 250–350 MW of distributed solar assets
- Review service visit reports before client presentation and participate in weekly client check-in calls
- Provide on-the-spot technical expertise
- Build relationships with clients, field service partners, internal teams, and asset stakeholders
- Investigate issues using site monitoring platforms and initiate activities to improve asset performance
- Create, manage, and oversee tickets for planned and unplanned service activities
- Coordinate and manage service activities with field service partners
- Support onsite service technicians during service work and check-out calls
- Collaborate with external engineering firms on retrofits, repowering, and redesigns
- Own the technical aspects of the Commercial BESS program, including sales support, pricing proposals, scope development, contract review, and operational implementation
- Contribute to Omnidian’s Standard Operating Procedures and QA/QC program
- Participate in initiatives supporting sales and product development
Requirements:
- Typically 3+ years of hands-on experience as a solar technician, installer, OEM field service engineer, or similar role, with at least 2 years in Commercial Solar
- Experience with 1000V+ DC systems, 3-phase AC interconnections, and advanced system diagnostics for projects exceeding 500kW
- Typically 4+ years of professional experience in the solar energy industry, or equivalent demonstrated scope
- Leadership history in account management, asset management, operations and maintenance, or field service coordination
- Familiarity with energy storage technologies
- Experience with solar monitoring DAS platforms
- Ability to interpret system design drawings
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, and CRM systems
- Experience with CRM systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make independent decisions
- Sound judgment and appropriate escalation of issues
- Highly organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving business needs
- Ability to perform in high-pressure situations and de-escalate tensions
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication
- NABCEP certification(s) is a plus
- Deep technical knowledge of commercial battery energy storage systems is a plus
- Salesforce experience is a plus
