Job Description

Trade mark paralegal manager leading Dentons Helix’s UK and international portfolio services. Supervising a team, ensuring quality delivery and improving legal operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day management and coordination of the Trade Mark paralegal team and supporting colleagues
  • Plan team capacity, allocate work and balance competing priorities across client portfolios
  • Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, induction, performance, development, attendance, wellbeing, engagement and succession planning
  • Oversee Trade Mark paralegal and administration services across client portfolios
  • Supervise and quality-check trade mark prosecution and portfolio administration work involving UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO
  • Undertake Trade Mark paralegal work for priority or complex matters and increased workloads
  • Provide guidance on objections, Registry requests, trade mark watches, opposition deadlines, evidence gathering, foreign filings and local-agent instructions
  • Monitor statutory deadlines, correspondence and future actions, escalating risks, delays and capacity constraints
  • Coordinate with the Partner, Trade Mark Attorneys, IP team, operational teams and technology specialists
  • Improve systems, processes, reporting, standard operating procedures, checklists, templates and guidance
  • Support technology, automation and data-led working practices

Requirements:

  • Substantial trade mark prosecution and portfolio administration experience in a Trade Mark Paralegal role
  • Demonstrable experience supervising, coordinating or managing the work of others
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK and international trade mark processes, including UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO
  • Ability to identify matters requiring attorney input or escalation
  • Experience reviewing and quality-checking paralegal and administration work
  • Confidence using IP management systems and technology
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, fluctuating workloads and operational risks across multiple client portfolios
  • Ability to use data and management information to assess workload and service delivery
  • Continuous improvement mindset and interest in technology-enabled working
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, discretion and professionalism
  • Completion of the CITMA Paralegal Course is advantageous
