Job Description
UX Researcher improving CAST, Koniag’s environmental planning and pollutant-estimation tool for EPA’s Chesapeake Bay partnership. Researching users and guiding spatial visualization, information architecture, and accessible design.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with KGS software designers and CBPO stakeholders on research needs for the CAST Next Generation process
- Identify research goals and priorities with software developers and stakeholders
- Define research questions and select optimal data collection methods for the spatially explicit CAST application
- Develop and manage research plans and resources for the spatially explicit CAST application prototype
- Identify suitable CAST participants and gather user feedback
- Transform research findings into actionable insights guiding new functionality decisions
- Present findings to designers, software developers, and CBPO stakeholders
- Inform and guide wireframes and design mock-ups
- Develop improved information architecture and design options for CAST and associated data communication products
- Conduct usability testing and analytics to understand CAST users and behavior
- Serve as a bridge between users and the Koniag/CBPO product team to inform UX design decisions, functionality, and accessibility
Requirements:
- Candidate must have a BA/BS degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in UX Research or UI/UX Design for digital products or services
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust and meet government background investigation requirements
- Must speak fluent English
- Ability to effectively convey ideas and research findings
- Understanding of current CAST users' perspectives and needs
- Applying Design thinking principles
- Critical thinking for problem solving
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
