Job Description
VP Program Manager leading mission-critical data center construction and operations programs for JLL, a global real estate services firm. Managing PMO delivery, infrastructure, budgets, risks, and client stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily PMO operations for a large data center campus
- Coordinate concurrent construction, infrastructure upgrade, and facility expansion projects
- Establish and maintain PMO frameworks, standards, governance structures, and reporting cadences
- Coordinate clients, contractors, design teams, MEP specialists, and critical systems vendors
- Manage master program schedules, interdependencies, and resource allocation
- Oversee power distribution, cooling systems, backup generators, fire suppression, and network infrastructure projects
- Ensure adherence to Uptime Institute Tier classifications, ASHRAE guidelines, and client technical requirements
- Coordinate commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness
- Manage contractor, equipment vendor, and critical infrastructure provider relationships
- Serve as primary client interface and conduct program reviews and status presentations
- Manage capacity planning, phased delivery schedules, and operational transition planning
- Oversee budgets up to hundreds of millions of dollars, cost tracking, change orders, and financial accountability
- Identify and mitigate supply chain, long-lead equipment, and operational continuity risks
- Ensure safety, regulatory, and data center operational compliance
- Lead and mentor project managers, coordinators, and technical specialists
- Implement process improvements and develop data center project management methodologies
- Support business development, client relationship management, and proposal development
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field
- 12+ years of program/project management experience with significant exposure to data center or mission-critical facility projects
- Proven experience leading PMO operations for large-scale capital programs ($100M+ portfolios)
- Deep understanding of data center infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, and supporting MEP systems
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Experience with commissioning processes, integrated systems testing, and operational handover for critical facilities
- Extensive experience supervising, developing, and mentoring technical project teams
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent high-priority initiatives
- Strong financial acumen including budget management, cost forecasting, and value engineering
- Ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Preferred: advanced degree; PMP, CCM, or other project management certification; LEED AP or data center-specific certification; hyperscale or colocation experience; modular/prefabricated data center delivery experience; proficiency with Smartsheet, Procore, P6, MS Project, and data analytics tools; Six Sigma or Lean certification; technology, cloud services, or telecommunications client experience; business development and client portfolio growth track record
