Job Description
Remote Pearson scorer evaluating Illinois and New York teacher-candidate responses. Applying scoring standards and bias-reduction strategies during intermittent assessment sessions.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates
- Internalize scoring standards
- Participate in discussions and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
- Recognize and discuss implicit, cultural, leniency, central tendency, and halo-effect biases
- Apply strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
- Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program
- Complete training before scoring begins
- Attend a brief orientation meeting if scheduled
- Score intermittently during Monday–Friday sessions, two to three times a year, generally from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m., including training
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher
- A current teaching certification in the language you are applying for
- Currently teaching or have taught in schools (public or private) within the last three years, including regular substitute teaching; or be/have been an educator from a college or university who holds a degree in a content-relevant field and/or has taught or advised in a content-relevant field within the last three years; or be a native or fluent speaker of the language (read, write, and speak) and hold a college degree
- Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse)
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to maintain a confidential work environment
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Pass a qualifying test before scoring
