Job Description
Civil Estimator developing cost estimates for Brown and Caldwell's water and wastewater engineering and construction projects. Performing quantity takeoffs, scheduling, and estimating database maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quantity takeoff procedures aligned with estimating best practices
- Utilize estimating software applications to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Support estimate planning and execution for moderately complex projects
- Adapt estimating processes to unique project circumstances and requirements
- Develop and incorporate geographical and contingency factors into estimates
- Analyze delivery resource and productivity factors within job estimates
- Maintain current knowledge of water/wastewater design and construction
- Help manage and maintain estimating databases, ensuring accurate and relevant information
- Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to less experienced team members as needed
- Execute additional assignments based on evolving needs
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in estimating or a related field
- Familiarity with estimating best practices and related software applications
- Understanding of water/wastewater design and construction methodologies
- Competency in quantity takeoff development and estimate planning and processes
- Understanding of geographical and contingency factors affecting estimates
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Presentation skills for describing estimates and calculations to internal and external clients
- Investigative abilities to obtain data sets and information required for estimates
- Familiarity with developing work breakdown structures for estimating and construction schedules
- Basic experience detailing work breakdown structures and performing construction schedules in MS Project or Primavera P6
- Field experience as a Construction Manager, Field Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or Resident Project Representative for an engineering or contracting firm
- Experience developing software-based construction schedules
- Bachelor's degree in construction, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
