Job Description
Construction Estimator preparing tenders and cost estimates for an engineering company’s commercial fit-out projects. Managing supplier pricing, budgets, and cost-saving opportunities remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent and competitive pricing for all projects
- Interpret architectural plans and specifications
- Prepare and submit tenders and cost estimates within project timelines
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors
- Track and communicate budget/tender progress to relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate with external trades for pricing and clarification
- Identify and recommend cost-saving measures with project teams
- Communicate project estimates, labour, and material costs
- Document lessons learned and potential cost-saving strategies
- Maintain organized records of completed projects and cost analyses
- Use company estimating software, including Buildsoft and Cubit
- Prepare reports as required
- Maintain a safety-first mindset and promote a safe work environment
- Operate in compliance with laws, regulations, governance, and organizational policies
- Provide duty of care for employees and be accountable for actions
- Achieve 100% compliance
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in construction estimating or a similar field
- Considerable estimating experience in Commercial Fit-Out or Shopfitting (preferred)
- General understanding of trade rates and construction costs
- Ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable with spreadsheet formulas
- Ability to quickly learn new business and estimating software programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Negotiation skills for pricing and terms with contractors and suppliers
- Leadership qualities with a results-oriented mindset
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure
- Reliable and supportive team player
- Proactive in identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities
