Job Description
Senior Estimator leading cost estimates and bids for Rosendin Electric’s electrical construction projects. Coordinating suppliers, subcontractors, estimators, and project management through bid turnover.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and complete bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects
- Serve as Lead Estimator for assigned projects
- Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs and complete estimates to computer printout
- Identify project elements critical to developing a competitive estimate
- Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and estimate requirements
- Evaluate potential value-engineering cost savings
- Lead personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids
- Maintain working documents and data supporting estimate figures
- Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data
- Prepare detailed material and equipment listings and obtain quotes
- Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes
- Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
- Complete client-required documents on time
- Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
- Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before issuing formal bid packages
- Meet with Project Management after successful bids to explain job scope, attention areas, and transition requirements
- Maintain estimate backup files and update the Rosendin-approved estimating program
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years’ estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
- Ability to estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work effort
- Ability to mentor and assist with the development of Estimators
- Ability to identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements
- Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
- Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
- Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
- Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
- Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred
- Education, training, and relevant experience may be combined
- Up to 10% travel
- Ability to perform duties involving extended sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
