Job Description
Claims Counsel at Root Insurance providing expertise in complex auto claims management. Researching and advising on legal matters, and supporting claims management across multiple states.
Responsibilities:
- Apply experienced insight to private passenger automobiles, contract interpretation, multi-state tort law, civil procedure, and litigation matters
- Research, draft and communicate insurance coverage opinions
- Interface with claims management, corporate legal and regulatory professionals on a variety of claims-related matters
- Support claims management with research and analysis of multi-state tort and insurance coverage laws to establish operational policies, procedures, and training programs
- Present in-person training sessions to adjuster teams and/or management on a variety of legal topics
- Draft form letters and releases
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor with an active license to practice law
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- First-chair (jury trial) insurance defense litigation experience
- Technical understanding of property/casualty insurance principles
- Strong written and oral communication
- Possessed of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills
- Comfort with risk analysis, flexibility and concise decision making
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships in a smart and dynamic environment
