Job Description
Collections Specialist securing payments for AOM Infusion’s home and specialty infusion therapy services. Managing payer follow-ups, claims documentation, insurance verification, and accounts receivable.
Responsibilities:
- Call and collect on commercial, Federal, and patient accounts
- Secure payment for services rendered
- Track trends with insurance carriers
- Educate co-workers on insurance carrier trends
- Maintain collection and billing notes
- Document all activities in Specialty Pharmacy Business Operating, Electronic Document Management Systems, and the monthly AR spreadsheet
- Work on follow-ups daily and maintain the follow-up report with no more than a one-week lag from the date assigned
- Pursue reimbursement for assigned payors/accounts and document findings in the electronic medical records system
- Assist with collection activities as directed by the Team Manager
- Process assigned payor correspondence within one week of receipt
- Maintain assigned productivity standards
- Maintain aging status over 120 days at or below department standards
- Coordinate with billing staff and administrative assistants to submit corrected claims and required documentation timely and accurately
- Help reduce DSO and increase collections
- Re-verify patient insurance coverage as needed or assigned
- Train other collectors as needed
- Assist with other projects assigned by the Team Manager
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Collections in a Home Infusion environment
- A strong understanding of the different types of insurance plans
- Good communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Self-motivated worker
- Computer literate
