Job Description
Licensed Design Engineer designing complex metal building systems for Cornerstone Building Brands, a North American exterior building-products manufacturer. Managing projects, ensuring structural compliance, and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage projects of all complexity levels
- Coordinate projects and optimize designs
- Design and oversee high-complexity metal building system projects
- Ensure compliance with structural codes, customer requirements, manufacturing standards, and company standards
- Develop optimized building solutions with customers
- Provide technical expertise and professional oversight for projects requiring signature and seal
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the Engineering Manager’s absence
- Manage project schedules, shifting priorities, and last-minute revisions
- Apply sound engineering judgment to protect public safety
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers
- Identify design improvements and cost-reduction opportunities
- Drive productivity improvements while maintaining accuracy and completeness
Requirements:
- Licensed Professional Engineer; PE or SE licensure
- Licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in metal building design or structural engineering
- Proven ability to design metal buildings of medium to high complexity
- Proficiency in structural design and modeling software such as RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent
- Proficiency in all metal building system design methodologies, including advanced and highly complex framing systems, custom configurations, and non-standard structural solutions
- Ability to provide sealed design documents where required
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply
