Job Description
Design Expert creating evaluation scenarios, prototypes, rubrics, and usability reports for Mercor, which partners with AI labs to train frontier models. Remote contract work across product design and AI-assisted development.
Responsibilities:
- Construct scenarios spanning rapid prototyping and iteration cycles, design system development, and cross-functional product-design-engineering collaboration
- Build tasks across AI-assisted application development, natural-language-to-code workflows, and rapid prototyping for the Vibecoding subdomain
- Build tasks across UX/UI design, design systems and component libraries, user research, and usability testing for the Design subdomain
- Develop scenarios using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, v0, and Replit
- Develop scenarios using Figma, Framer, and design systems tooling
- Apply iterative prompt-driven development methodologies for Vibecoding
- Apply human-centered design principles and heuristic evaluation for Design
- Produce reference prototypes, code artifacts, design specifications, and usability evaluation reports
- Author rubrics distinguishing authentic senior-level product judgment from generic tutorial-level or template-driven work
- Work on projects focused on training and enhancing AI systems
Requirements:
- 5+ years working as a product designer, design lead, or AI-native engineer/vibecoder
- Experience at a major product- or design-forward company, notable independent product builder, or startup product builder
- Direct ownership of product design systems or AI-assisted development workflows shipped to production
- Fluency in vibecoding or design tooling
- Understanding of user-centered design principles and rapid prototyping practices
- Portfolio of shipped work strongly preferred in place of a formal credential
- Prior rubric, training, or design critique authorship is a plus
- Independent contractor engagement
- Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT support
