Job Description
Development Manager advancing philanthropic pipelines and donor relationships for a global nonprofit. Supporting prospect research, CRM oversight, fundraising strategy, and high-touch donor events.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct prospect research and due diligence to identify, assess, and qualify philanthropic prospects
- Analyze philanthropic interests, giving history, capacity, and alignment with organizational priorities
- Develop prospect profiles, donor intelligence briefs, and engagement recommendations
- Draft introductory, follow-up, donor, acknowledgment, and stewardship communications
- Prepare briefing materials, background research, presentations, agendas, meeting summaries, and meeting preparation documents
- Track prospect activity, engagement plans, donor interactions, commitments, and next steps in the CRM
- Support strategic fundraising priorities through coordinated planning, execution, and follow-through
- Maintain an accurate philanthropic pipeline and develop dashboards, reports, and pipeline analyses
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners on philanthropic initiatives and donor engagement
- Partner with Marketing and Communications on donor-facing materials and stewardship collateral
- Support cultivation and stewardship strategies for current and prospective donors
- Coordinate high-touch donor cultivation and stewardship experiences in the U.S. and internationally
- Manage event logistics, guest strategy, invitations, RSVP tracking, vendors, briefing packets, run-of-show planning, and post-event follow-up
- Support intimate donor gatherings and engagement opportunities for high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic partners
- Report to the Chief of Philanthropy
Requirements:
- 4–7 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, donor relations, prospect development, advancement services, relationship management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience conducting prospect research, due diligence, and donor intelligence gathering
- Experience managing donor or prospect information in a CRM platform such as Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, Virtuous, Blackbaud, or similar
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing executive briefings, donor communications, presentations, or reports
- Experience coordinating meetings, events, or engagement activities for senior leaders, donors, clients, or external stakeholders
- High discretion and professionalism when handling confidential donor and organizational information
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reporting, documentation, and follow-through
- Preferred: experience with international fundraising or global philanthropic engagement
- Preferred: familiarity with ultra-high-net-worth donor strategy and venture philanthropy models
- Preferred: comfort operating in executive-facing, high-visibility settings
- Preferred: experience building dashboards, KPIs, or campaign reporting tools
- Candidates must reside in MD, D.C., or VA
- Full-time availability Monday–Friday, with flexibility and occasional evenings and weekends for planned events
