Job Description

Director leading automation and controls strategy for GAF’s roofing manufacturing operations. Overseeing projects, capital planning, safety, and a distributed team across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide all functions of the Automation & Controls team
  • Collaborate with engineering to foster continuous innovation and improvement
  • Provide strategic input to 3- and 5-year manufacturing capital plans
  • Drive continuous operational support to production facilities
  • Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems, and R&D
  • Maintain machine standards with customers, vendors, and engineering machine builders
  • Manage capitalized projects, budget development, financial reporting, and software implementation
  • Manage engineering practices and applications across the Automation & Controls team
  • Mitigate controls-system obsolescence and implement process improvements
  • Set priorities and manage project implementation from development through deployment
  • Ensure controls-system documentation is current
  • Lead and support departmental teams in a collaborative, customer-service-oriented environment
  • Promote continuous education and adoption of emerging technologies to optimize manufacturing processes
  • Promote machine health and personal safety and ensure corporate safety standards are followed
  • Manage 4+ direct reports
  • Travel approximately 60%

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations
  • Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly
  • Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships
  • Working knowledge of computer assisted drawing
  • Working knowledge of human machine interface development
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite
  • Working knowledge of advanced diagnostic tools
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit)
