Job Description

Director leading distribution operations across Ventura Foods’ nationwide food-manufacturing network. Modernizing warehouses, managing 3PLs, reducing costs, and improving customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s Distribution function and deliver an extraordinary customer experience through efficient operations
  • Directly oversee the Corporate Distribution team and provide dotted-line oversight of plant Distribution teams
  • Improve overall distribution metrics and support plants as needed
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to maintain stable operations and advance corporate initiatives
  • Develop and execute a Corporate Distribution Operating Model in a matrixed organization
  • Build internal partnerships and communicate operating-model results
  • Drive waste reduction through continuous improvement initiatives at plant and network levels
  • Optimize operating processes, warehouse capacity, distribution labor, material handling equipment, inventory storage strategies, warehouse layouts, distribution technology, and safe food handling practices
  • Develop long-term plans to improve service, reduce cost, and expand capacity
  • Own outsourced distribution providers and manage 3PL performance, contracts, locations, oversight, service, inventory, cost, and capacity
  • Develop the corporate distribution team as process-improvement accelerators and implement best practices for receiving, put away, picking, staging, and loading
  • Define distribution performance metrics, build measurement tools, and support sustained operational excellence
  • Develop plant-level distribution leadership teams and support career growth and plant self-reliance
  • Manage the entire Distribution budget, including internal and 3PL costs
  • Partner with plant and finance leadership on budgets and resolve and communicate major variances
  • Manage company-wide distribution complaint-rate performance, set targets, analyze deviations, and define improvement plans
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehousing and distribution environments
  • Significant experience inside a warehouse leading large teams
  • Full operational responsibility for multi-site warehouse operations experience
  • Experience implementing and managing continuous improvement tools and management systems, including WMS, ERP, labor management systems, material handling equipment, or warehouse storage systems
  • Demonstrated successful project management in distribution and fulfillment operations
  • Demonstrated history managing and developing professional-level staff
  • Knowledge of current supply chain strategies, efficiency improvement methodologies, operating processes, and warehouse layout design
  • Ability to manage multiple staff resources across multiple distribution channels
  • Ability to work successfully in a matrixed organization and influence decision-making and performance
  • Ability to lead teams across multiple sites, including direct and dotted-line reporting structures
  • Ability to direct complex multiple activities and projects while balancing personnel and other resources to meet deliverables on time
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective presentation and technical skills
  • 3PL experience strongly preferred
  • Food distribution experience helpful
  • Willingness to travel 50–75% in North America
  • Ideal candidate lives near Irvine, CA; Dallas, TX; Chambersburg, PA; or Atlanta, GA
