Job Description
RailPros strategic pursuits director growing private railroad and transit clients. Developing Class 1, port, and short-line relationships and expanding engineering services.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Vice President in developing, executing, and maintaining market-focused business plans for Industry, Port, and Short Line accounts
- Support strategic client relationship development with key decision-makers and industry stakeholders
- Advance service excellence initiatives and improve the client experience
- Identify client needs, track opportunities, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support revenue growth
- Serve as liaison between clients and RailPros teams, coordinating communication and resources
- Prepare and deliver client-facing presentations and marketing materials
- Participate in industry associations, conferences, and networking events
- Nurture relationships with Class 1 and Short Line Industrial Development teams across the RailPros network
- Promote RailPros service offerings and cross-sell across engineering, project management, real estate support, industrial development, and utility management
- Coordinate between the Project Management Office and project or opportunity leaders
- Travel routinely, up to 60%
Requirements:
- Four-year degree
- At least 10 years of direct work experience in the Class 1 or Short Line railroad landscape
- Established management-level relationships with Class 1, Industrial, Port, and Short Line clients, especially in Engineering, Operations, and Procurement
- Deep understanding of Class 1 and Short Line industrial/economic development procedures and policies
- Comprehensive understanding of project processes, procedures, resource needs, and timing across Class 1 and Short Line holding companies
- Comprehensive understanding of railroad projects, including scope, fee, timing, and complexity
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency with computers, email, and software used to develop presentations and promotional materials
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials with discretion
- Strong presentation and concept-delivery skills
- Highly social and outgoing personality demonstrating confidence and building trust with external clients
- Ability to travel routinely, up to 50–60%
