Job Description
Director of Regional Accounts Market Access at Vera Therapeutics, leading regional strategies for patient access and market positioning. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive successful product launches.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute regional market access strategies for managed care organizations, PBMs, employer (ASO) groups, and other payer segments.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to gain and strengthen product access including competitive positioning.
- Align account plans with corporate objectives, financial targets, and market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive decision-makers across commercial insurers, Medicare plans, and key ASO clients.
- Partner with trade relations, medical directors, and clinical leaders to secure and maintain optimal reimbursement.
- Represent product value by integrating clinical and economic insights to influence policy and formulary decisions.
- Work with Health Outcomes & Leadership (HOL) and Medical Affairs to deliver compelling clinical and outcomes data to payers.
- Guide Marketing on customer-specific messaging, formulary tools, and access-focused launch activities.
- Provide field sales and regional managers with actionable insights, reimbursement expertise, and pull-through strategies.
- Serve as the internal expert on payer policies, competitive developments, and specialty distribution operations.
- Assess the influence of GPOs, PBMs, health plans, ACOs, Managed Medicaid, and exchanges on access strategy.
- Lead Vera’s presence at key industry meetings and customer events with clear objectives and follow-through.
- Oversee performance monitoring, compliance, and utilization audits to ensure access strategies deliver results.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- 12+ years of experience in biotechnology and/or pharmaceuticals
- 12+ years in market access or account management with successful product launches and/or line extensions
- Deep knowledge of commercial and Medicare managed markets in the Mid-West (Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi), specialty distribution, and U.S. healthcare policy
- Demonstrated success in complex contract negotiation and senior-level payer engagement
- Experience building high-performing teams and driving cross-functional alignment
- Ability to travel 25–40%.
