Job Description

Financial modeler building Excel PE, credit, and debt models from scratch. Supporting a U.S.-based technology company developing AI systems for financial decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Build PE, credit, and debt models from scratch in Excel
  • Structure transactions, assumptions, and drivers
  • Link operations, cash flow, debt, and returns through complete model flows
  • Review and debug models built by others
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, broken logic, and risks
  • Analyze how operating performance flows through to debt service and returns
  • Explain financial logic and decision-making clearly
  • Complete an independent take-home Excel modeling exercise designed to reflect real-world modeling work

Requirements:

  • 2–10 years in finance roles with heavy, hands-on modeling
  • Experience at a private equity fund, including direct investing, buy-side diligence, and portfolio company modeling, strongly preferred
  • Built multiple full LBO models from scratch
  • Experience with sources & uses and transaction assumptions
  • Experience with multi-tranche debt schedules, including revolver, term loans, mezzanine, and cash sweep
  • Experience with IRR, MOIC, and value creation drivers
  • Experience with operating models, sensitivities, downside cases, and exit scenarios
  • Experience with add-ons, dividend recaps, or refinancing scenarios is a plus
  • Experience with 3-statement borrower models
  • Experience with cash flow-based underwriting and debt capacity analysis
  • Experience with covenant modeling, including leverage, DSCR, interest coverage, and headroom testing
  • Experience with downside and stress scenarios for lending decisions
  • Experience with debt sizing and structuring
  • Experience with amortization, PIK, cash sweeps, and refinancing mechanics
  • Experience with private credit/direct lending deal models
  • Experience with recovery analysis and payment waterfalls
  • Direct experience in private equity, leveraged finance, sponsor coverage, private credit, direct lending, or credit underwriting
  • Proven ability to build models from a blank spreadsheet without templates
  • Experience building models that drove real investment or lending decisions
  • High attention to detail and model accuracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • English required
  • Must independently complete a ~3-hour take-home Excel modeling exercise
