Job Description
Remote geotechnical engineer managing large infrastructure projects for Terracon, a nationwide engineering consulting firm. Delivering site analysis, designs, reports, budgets, and construction support.
Responsibilities:
- Manage large geotechnical projects for major clients.
- Collaborate with local engineers, subject-matter experts, and National Account Managers across the office network.
- Support resource management, scheduling, and budgeting within the PMO.
- Ask questions to learn clients’ approaches to site selection, design, and construction.
- Work with the CE&D team to discover, develop, and deploy innovative ways to get work done.
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates; track project progress and budgets; recommend changes.
- Assist in geotechnical field exploration using standard and innovative tools.
- Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory and field data for site characterization.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations.
- Design and develop plans and specifications.
- Write, prepare, and review related service reports.
- Review drawings and collaborate with construction teams to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Observe and inspect construction.
- Research and resolve design and construction problems.
- Communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering; PE license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience managing geotechnical projects for large infrastructure clients.
- Proven program-management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods and data interpretation.
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to travel nationwide for site visits and meetings.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
