Job Description
Legal Assistant performing legal and secretarial tasks for assigned attorney(s) in California civil litigation. Handling correspondence, scheduling appearances, and maintaining legal deadlines in a remote setting.
Responsibilities:
- Performs legal and secretarial tasks for assigned attorney(s), with supervision and oversight from their leader
- Maintains schedules and calendar for assigned attorney(s)
- Composes a variety of correspondence, pleadings and various legal forms
- Coordinates time and location of multi-party appearances, including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, Independent Medical Exams (IME’s) meetings and site inspections
- Answers telephone calls, emails and handles client inquiries
- Receives and processes incoming mail
- Contacts clients, witnesses, court reporters, interpreters, claims personnel, and others to confirm scheduled appearances as instructed by assigned attorney(s)
- Maintains a thorough knowledge and keeps up-to-date with court rules and legal deadlines
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years experience in civil litigation as a legal administration clerk, secretary, or legal assistant required
