Job Description
Multimedia Editor overseeing late-cycle web news, SEO and breaking coverage for Postmedia’s London Free Press. Editing content and developing digital strategies to grow readership.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the late news cycle on the London Free Press website, lfpress.com
- Keep the website updated with edited content to attract and engage readers and reach new audiences
- Hone digital strategies for SEO, social, breaking news alerts and user-generated content
- Ensure assignments meet breaking content needs in consultation with late-day multimedia journalists
- Identify opportunities for non-traditional explainers and live coverage
- Help develop ambitious journalism ideas and meet or exceed website performance targets
- Attend editorial meetings to plan and execute content
- Help produce the newsroom’s regular reader newsletters
- Work closely with the digital team, field reporters, assistant news editor, city desk and deputy editor
Requirements:
- Experienced in daily digital journalism and editing, or with demonstrated ability to quickly learn
- Fluent in digital and social platforms
- Eager to work under a newsroom’s fast-paced deadlines
- Skilled journalist and communicator
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing news needs and evolving situations requiring speed and flexibility
- Familiar with industry content, style and legal standards, including the law of libel and defamation
- Detailed resume and covering letter required for application
- Position is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement
