Job Description
Billing Associate responsible for insurance claims and AR at Vision Innovation Partners. Investigating denials and ensuring appropriate payments for services provided.
Responsibilities:
- Understand how to effectively utilize the systems used to bill insurance claims, work denials and AR.
- Work with the Financial Services Team to assist with patient questions concerning their bill.
- Make necessary changes to the patients' demographics and insurance information to obtain payment from the appropriate insurance company for both primary and secondary coverages if the information in the system is inaccurate.
- Ability to work large numbers of claims.
- Make corrections as needed to the patient's computer record so that future insurance claims, and statements are accurate.
- Make calls to insurance companies to understand the denial and what needs to be done to get the appropriate payment for the services provided.
- Review, correct and process charges for the providers or clinic as assigned by your billing lead.
- Work denied claims in a timely fashion so that KPI's are maintained for percentages of aged AR.
- Communicate effectively with other billers and billing leads to identify trends in errors and denials so that the root cause of the denial can be addressed
Requirements:
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Must have basic computer skills
- Experience with Excel, Word and Teams is preferred
- Medical billing knowledge, CPT, ICD-10 codes
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience in medical billing, Ophthalmology would be preferred
