Job Description
Performance Coach helping U.S. independent auto-repair shops improve profitability through ATI’s coaching and training programs. Analyzing operations, financials, and business practices while mentoring shop owners toward measurable results.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze members’ existing automotive shop practices and recommend improvements based on ATI best practices and techniques
- Coach, consult, train, and mentor independent repair shop owners to achieve business goals
- Guide members through ATI’s 48-month re-engineering program and alumni programs
- Listen to shop owners’ needs and help them develop profitable and efficient businesses
- Communicate with members via phone, Zoom, and email
- Review financial statements, evaluate competitors, and analyze business practices
- Develop business models or recommendations and present them to clients
- Meet or exceed ATI goals, including client return on investment and CSI scores
- Maintain customer satisfaction, report cards, and road maps tracking performance and progress
- Conduct weekly client contact and ensure client and staff class attendance
- Monitor members’ program status and align their needs with available support
- Complete startup agreements, coach-client agreements, and weekly call notes
- Provide research and content for articles, classroom materials, and training materials
- Participate in coaches meetings, company meetings, One on Ones, ATI classes, peer groups, performance groups, podcasts, owner events, presentations, and tradeshows
- Attend shop owner dinner events, annual SuperConference, industry-related events, and required monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual company meetings
- Manage calendar and time efficiently
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of overall automotive experience
- Strong focus in service writing, shop management, operations management, or previous shop ownership
- Preferably experience in the independent, non-dealer aftermarket arena
- Operations management experience, preferably with an aftermarket chain, involving established internal structures and processes
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills
- Solid automotive business understanding
- Ability to influence others by telephone and videoconferencing
- Minimum 4 years of teaching, instructing, and mentoring small business owners or employees
- Clear understanding of challenges facing independent shop owners
- Track record of consultative management, people development, and business management
- Prior success in an organization with monthly goals
- Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM is a plus
- Sales abilities strongly preferred
- Accounting or P&L experience
- Marketing and online/social media experience
- Excellent writing skills; article-writing interest is a plus
- Solid understanding of recruiting and retaining high-quality employees
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and persuasion skills
- Ability to convince business owners to make major changes and paradigm shifts
- Professional personal image
- Ability to attend required company meetings, ATI classes, events, and groups
