Job Description
Permit Specialist preparing and submitting documentation for residential solar projects at SpartanX. Ensuring compliance and facilitating permit acquisition for timely project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit permitting packages for residential solar PV systems, battery storage, and related upgrades
- Review design documents for accuracy and ensure alignment with local building codes and jurisdictional requirements
- Communicate directly with building departments, AHJs, and utility companies to obtain permits and resolve any issues or redlines
- Track and manage the status of all permits using internal systems or project management software
- Work closely with in-house design, engineering, and project coordination teams to gather required documentation and ensure timely submissions
- Respond to permit rejections or revision requests and coordinate resubmissions
- Maintain accurate records of all permit submissions, revisions, and approvals
- Stay current with permitting requirements, code changes, and AHJ-specific rules
- Occasionally support interconnection or HOA documentation needs
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ year experience in permitting, solar operations, or administrative support within the construction industry
- Ability to read and understand basic site plans, electrical layouts, and construction documents
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working with permitting portals and AHJ systems (e.g., Accela, eTRAKiT) preferred
- Familiarity with solar design software (Aurora, Helioscope) is a plus
