Job Description

Principal Product Manager shaping Akamai Cloud developer tools and AI-first workflows. Driving API strategy, developer platforms, and infrastructure integrations for Akamai’s distributed cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft and drive the multi-year vision, product strategy, and execution roadmap for Akamai Cloud developer tooling
  • Modernize brownfield enterprise API paths while elevating API quality, consistency, and platform performance
  • Pioneer next-generation developer interfaces for AI agents and LLM-driven workflows using Model Context Protocol endpoints
  • Collaborate with engineering on API design guidelines, OpenAPI standards, schema governance, and API Gateway capabilities
  • Oversee product development for official developer tools, including CLI, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code providers
  • Influence the strategy for streamlining and unifying Developer Experience across multiple platforms

Requirements:

  • 15 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or its equivalent
  • Experience designing REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs
  • Experience delivering developer tools such as CLIs, SDKs, and Terraform providers
  • Expertise in API Gateway architectures, traffic management, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and mTLS
  • Proven track record of evolving mature developer platforms
  • Experience managing breaking-change lifecycles without disrupting existing workloads
  • Technical fluency in CNCF technologies
  • Kubernetes expertise
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure, monitoring, database management, and data visualization tools
  • Knowledge of open-source developer ecosystems
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code automation communities
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms
