Job Description
Project Design Engineering Manager overseeing delivery and quality of technical designs for industrial applications. Managing project engineers while ensuring compliance and schedule adherence at EnerSys.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of project engineers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of technical designs for assigned projects.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering tasks, maintaining design quality and alignment with customer requirements and internal standards.
- Keep engineering output on schedule and within budget while supporting field constructability and team collaboration.
- Manage and mentor a team of project engineers, providing technical guidance and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Implement established engineering processes, design review checkpoints, and documentation standards across the team.
- Work closely with project managers, drafting teams, and field staff to resolve design issues and clarify technical requirements.
- Monitor team workload to ensure engineering milestones support permitting, procurement, and construction deadlines.
- Lead project-level design reviews and perform quality assurance checks on all team deliverables.
- Identify and recommend improvements to design tools and workflows to increase team efficiency.
- Serve as a resource for the team regarding design decisions, technical problem-solving, and code compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a related Engineering field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in engineering design, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering engineered design packages for construction or industrial projects.
- Strong ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks and manage team priorities.
- Solid understanding of engineering documentation, industry codes, and QA/QC procedures.
- Strong communication and technical problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CAD platforms and project tracking software.
