Job Description
Regional sales manager leading Midwest distributor and retail accounts for Valent U.S.A., a crop-protection solutions company. Developing sales teams, strategic accounts, revenue, and regional business plans.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the designated sales team by developing sales employees and increasing sales skills and efficiencies
- Drive on-the-ground sales, customer performance, EDI, and GPOS sales
- Develop, maintain, and manage professional relationships with key field personnel of distributor and retail accounts
- Drive new business opportunities through business proposals and leveraging current retail account projects
- Monitor customer feedback and resolve local account issues with the National Account Management Team
- Manage communications between accounts and Valent
- Maintain customer satisfaction for assigned retail accounts
- Develop and implement strategic plans for assigned key retail accounts
- Prioritize and conduct direct sales calls and on-site customer visits
- Analyze and track key account performance metrics and sales goals
- Communicate Valent prices, terms, and programs to key accounts and sales team members
- Partner with Sales and Marketing Management on account activity, customer strategy, and business-impacting events
- Develop regional sales staff through coaching, training programs, and personal evaluations
- Communicate program earnings analyses, reports, and payments to key accounts
- Lead regional financial objectives by maximizing sales and managing expenses
- Focus sales activities and call frequency on regional and national distribution opportunities
- Formulate and present business proposals and account-support strategies
- Protect existing account revenue and identify additional revenue opportunities
- Coordinate sales activities, goals, tactics, and procurement negotiations
- Coordinate customer needs with regional managers, marketing, supply chain, and sales management
- Implement and monitor sales strategies and tactics
- Forecast regional sales-area needs for the current and upcoming year
- Develop regional sales business plans and evaluate sales representative administrative duties
- Determine territorial coverage and alterations for best ROI over a 1–5-year period
- Gather and report market and competitive intelligence
- Supervise and evaluate sales and administrative personnel in the assigned region
Requirements:
- Typically, a BA, MBA, or equivalent, with 10–12 years of related experience
- 8–10 years of progressive management experience
- Building and maintaining relationships

- Problem solving and analyzing customers
- Oral, written, and group communication skills
- Coaching and counseling
- Central Business Systems and Microsoft Office Systems proficiency
- Ability to travel by air or car up to 75% of the time
- Ability to drive safely for long distances
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. constantly, up to 75 lbs. frequently, and 100+ lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work in or around moving vehicles, equipment, machinery, uneven ground, noise, temperature and humidity extremes, dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, insects, animals, and heights
- May be required to work outdoors in agricultural crop fields, assist with demonstration plots, and wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment
