Job Description

Senior BI Engineer delivering provider-contract analytics for Humana’s U.S. healthcare business. Building SQL, Databricks, Power BI, and low-code solutions for leadership decision support.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex business problems using internal and external data sources to provide insight to decision-makers
  • Support market and corporate leaders with data-driven insights on provider contract performance and related processes
  • Explore, analyze, and present insights from complex datasets
  • Work with corporate, market, and network leadership to understand strategy and data-analysis needs
  • Implement solutions and technologies to meet business needs
  • Contribute to cross-functional and internal data-analysis or reporting initiatives
  • Deliver insights and recommend actions
  • Serve as the data and visualization subject matter expert for assigned portfolios
  • Uphold and enforce development standards
  • Mentor teammates and promote best practices, especially in low-code development using Microsoft Power Apps
  • Build optimized, scalable, and well-documented analytical processes to mine, integrate, summarize, and analyze data from various platforms
  • Enable or streamline data-driven processes according to departmental standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience using SQL to write complex queries against large datasets, derive insights, and visualize results with modern data-visualization software such as Power BI
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing scalable, robust data pipelines in Databricks
  • Minimum 1 year of experience designing, building, and maintaining technology solutions using low-code application technologies such as Microsoft Power Apps/Power Automate
  • Strong experience working within the healthcare sector
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements between business users and technical development teams
  • Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and present complex data and create accurate, meaningful information for reporting and decision support to senior leadership
  • Experience consulting with users at all levels of familiarity with modern BI tools to design and implement appropriate solutions
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership
  • Minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps
  • Work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
  • Certification in Power BI, Power Platform, or Power Apps preferred
  • Experience using Python for task orchestration, data pipelines, data cleaning, or other data-centric use cases preferred
  • Experience with AI or machine-learning methodologies and consultative implementation preferred
  • Experience with Power BI Report Builder preferred
  • Experience analyzing medical claims and provider data, especially Humana internal data, preferred
  • Experience creating analytics solutions within healthcare preferred
