Job Description
Duck Creek Billing Lead designing and supporting scalable P&C insurance applications for Pacific Specialty Insurance Company. Leading architecture, integrations, production support, and developer mentoring.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, modify, debug, and evaluate business applications and programs
- Produce project deliverables and assist with post-implementation support and system enhancements
- Design code and build solutions meeting business and technical requirements
- Engage with the business from design through testing, production, and support
- Solve programming problems to meet business requirements
- Translate technical design specifications into program instructions
- Debug routine programs and prepare program documentation
- Plan and coordinate critical systems and monitoring
- Analyze application failures and recommend corrective actions
- Evaluate system performance and recommend application-processing or resource-utilization improvements
- Ensure architectural integrity and consistency across products
- Present architectural approaches for web, client, server, and other software applications
- Manage Sprint backlogs and keep dashboards updated with required metrics
- Coordinate end-user support
- Create solution options based on system capabilities, standard processes, and industry trends
- Provide documentation, including test plan design, and support development, delivery, test, and business teams
- Manage user and systems administration
- Monitor systems and hardware performance and usage
- Manage the system change process
- Provide estimates of effort and completion timelines
- Review deliverables, support other analysts, and provide knowledge transfer and ad hoc training
- Research production issues and support the Application Support group
- Assist the business in articulating enhancements to resolve issues
Requirements:
- 12 to 14 years of hands-on experience in application software development with a strong focus on Duck Creek Billing
- Extensive experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain, including Billing Architect and Technical Lead roles
- Deep expertise in Personal Lines Insurance, including Homeowners, Casualty, and Motorcycle products
- Experience designing, configuring, customizing, and supporting Duck Creek Billing using Author, Express, and Server
- Advanced proficiency in ManuScript development, configuration management, inheritance frameworks, and version control
- Experience integrating Duck Creek Billing with external applications and services using XML, XSLT, XPath, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including complex stored procedures, triggers, queries, and XQuery
- Ability to provide architectural leadership and recommend design improvements
- Experience establishing development standards, conducting code reviews, and enforcing best practices
- Experience as a Subject Matter Expert mentoring junior and mid-level developers
- Ability to lead development teams while remaining involved in hands-on coding and technical solution delivery
- Understanding of P&C billing operations, including billing, installment plans, PCN processing, commissions, disbursements, and payment processing
- Experience collaborating with business analysts, solution architects, product owners, and delivery managers in Agile environments
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Duck Creek Billing Configuration Certification is mandatory
- Experience with large-scale Duck Creek Billing implementations, upgrades, and production support engagements is preferred
- API framework experience as required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet project timelines
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Applications, or related field from an accredited school and 10+ years of related experience
