Job Description

Senior EHS leader guiding compliance, safety, and environmental stewardship for Transco Rail Services’ rail operations. Leading multi-site teams, risk reduction, and regulatory performance across the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for Environmental, Health & Safety programs across all Transco Rail Services operations and business functions
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve Environmental, Health & Safety policies, standards, procedures, and management systems
  • Establish consistent Environmental, Health & Safety expectations and accountability measures across field operations, shop operations, corporate functions, and support departments
  • Partner with operational and functional leaders to identify risks, improve performance, and support business objectives
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate Environmental, Health & Safety performance metrics, trends, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership
  • Lead environmental compliance programs, risk management, audits, assessments, inspections, and sustainability initiatives
  • Lead occupational health initiatives involving industrial hygiene, exposure reduction, injury prevention, workforce readiness, and Workers' Compensation programs
  • Drive safety initiatives, action plans, performance improvement, facility assessments, incident response, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Lead investigations involving serious injuries, fatalities, environmental incidents, vehicle accidents, regulatory matters, and other elevated-risk events
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership regarding performance and risk exposure
  • Directly supervise Director-level Environmental, Health & Safety leaders and other assigned personnel
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, and talent assessment
  • Collaborate with Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Information Technology, Risk Management, and other functions
  • Serve as the primary Environmental, Health & Safety advisor to Transco Rail Services leadership teams
  • Support acquisitions, business expansions, facility start-ups, customer initiatives, and operational changes through planning and risk assessments
  • Promote alignment of Environmental, Health & Safety expectations across geographically dispersed operations
  • Report to the Sr. Vice President, Operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety & Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field required
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible Environmental, Health & Safety leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multi-site operations within industrial, transportation, manufacturing, rail service, field service, or similar environments
  • Proven record of improving Environmental, Health & Safety performance and reducing organizational risk
  • Significant experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety professionals and functional leaders
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, injury prevention, incident management, environmental compliance, and risk management programs
  • Demonstrated ability to influence operational and functional leaders across diverse business environments
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental, occupational health, and workplace safety regulations within the United States and Canada
  • Thorough understanding of industrial hygiene principles, risk assessments, incident investigation methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
  • Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement company-wide Environmental, Health & Safety standards, procedures, and improvement initiatives
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align Environmental, Health & Safety priorities with operational and organizational goals
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across all levels and functions of the organization
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience leveraging metrics, reporting tools, and performance data to drive decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement efforts
  • Strong project management and strategic planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Environmental, Health & Safety management systems
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and satisfy all customer and company site access requirements
  • Ability to work within office environments, rail yards, repair facilities, mobile field service environments, customer locations, and industrial work settings
  • Ability to walk facilities, climb stairs and ladders, access elevated work areas, and traverse uneven terrain
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and travel via commercial aircraft as required
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and respond to significant environmental, regulatory, operational, or safety events when necessary
  • Frequent travel throughout the United States and Canada, generally 40-60% based upon business requirements
